Talk about a grand entrance — that would Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation gala chairs Fred Hagans and son William Hagans, who arrived from behind stage at the Hilton Americas-Houston driving a spanking new silver Aston Martin. That was just the start to the James Bond-themed “Men on a Mission” Promise Ball that by night’s end had earned $1.1 million for JDRF.

Embracing all things Bond, the Hagans arranged for guests to be greeted by a bevy of fetching Bond girls. When not drooling over the eye candy, JDRF supporters could hang in the sleek cocktail lounge settings and belly up to the martini bars.

The fun began with Grammy Award-winning singer Sheena Easton, who included “For Your Eyes Only” in her boogie-inspired repertoire. And dance they did.

Joining the Hagans in their dazzling moment on stage were honorees Kelly Williams, Richard Fass, Clay Bretchesand their young sons. The men and the entire ballroom were on the mission to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes.

They were on their way to major funding before the night began but by the time the dust settled on the live auction and the Fund A Cure appeal, which combined brought in a whopping $600,000, total proceeds had jumped the $1 million mark.

And then the fun began with Grammy Award-winning singer Sheena Easton, who included “For Your Eyes Only” in her boogie-inspired repertoire. And dance they did.
